Visit a local museum or art gallery in your native city or country. Choose a memorable sculpture and painting and describe them following the patterns of descriptions in the previous exercise.

Look up for a couple of artworks (a sculpture and a painting) online and describe them.

Please find four more words that would be used to describe an art work in terms of colour or tone, mood or atmosphere, composition and material. Share them with your fellow students and together create a word bank containing the same categories.

Gap-fill Exercise: Text Venus de Milo


Choose a significant art work that you would like to describe and write a text of ten sentences about it. Please leave out some words from the text and prepare a word bank with the omitted words. Forward the created task to your fellow student who will have to complete the text using the words from the bank.
